Digital Art Submissions & Awards

One of the most salient features of the festival was the digital art competition & exhibition. We received sixty total submissions and 27 of the juried pieces were selected to be part of the digital art exhibit currently being held at City Hall. Of these, First ($1,000), Second ($500) & Third ($250) prizes were given .

These and all other submissions that were accepted will be on display at the Redmond City Hall lobby through November 7th, 2008.

Information about the artists was kept completely anonymous during the selection process to ensure the unbiased attention of the jurors. Below is more information on the jurors themselves and the artworks that they selected.

First Place"Fall" by Vincent Hie

Vincent Hie from Amsterdam takes first place with his beautiful piece "Fall". This magnificent work of art was painted in Photoshop using a stylus (a pressure-sensitive digital pen). The work features a dragon intertwined with a tree such that its wings almost become the tree's branches. To truly appreciate this work of art you need to see it in person. The piece will be on display at Redmond City Hall until November 7th, 2008 (9-5pm, Monday through Friday).

Daniel Moyer from Redmond takes second place with his compelling short-film "Vice". This animated short was created using digital 3D animation techniques. It features a man quietly working in front of his computer until he becomes suddenly assaulted by it, which eventually consumes him into the monitor.

Leslie Harrington, also from Redmond, takes the third prize with her piece "Club Cheyenne". Leslie's whimsical style and excellent design sense made her work stand-out from the crowd. It's no surprise she is one of our award-winners.
